Course Overview
Ages 16–19 | 2-week residential courses | Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge
Spend your summer in one of the world’s most famous university cities. At Experio English, you’ll improve your English, explore future-focused subjects, make friends from around the world, and experience authentic student life in Cambridge.
The Experio Cambridge International Summer School is a two-week residential programme designed for ambitious young adults aged 16–19. After placement testing, students join small classes of up to 16 learners at their level.
The programme combines:
- General English – strengthen fluency and accuracy.
- English for Academic Purposes (EAP) – develop skills for university and beyond.
- Electives – future-focused options in public speaking, innovation, global issues, and career preparation.
- Project Work Sessions – collaborate in international teams on real-world challenges, building skills in research, teamwork, and presentation.
By the end of the course, students return home with:
- Stronger English skills
- Academic and professional confidence
- International friendships
- A certificate of attendance and full progress report
Course Programme
The Experio International Summer School in Cambridge is a two-week residential programme designed to challenge and inspire students aged 16–19. After placement testing, learners join small classes of up to 16 students at a similar level for personalised progress.
The programme combines:
- General English
- English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
- Electives developing 21st-century skills (public speaking, critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork)

Public Speaking & Debating: Develop confidence and impact in spoken English through interactive workshops on presentation skills, persuasive argument, and structured debates. Students learn to think quickly, speak clearly, and lead discussions — skills that are essential for success at university and in the workplace.
The World of Work: Prepare for the next step with practical skills for career and study progression. From writing a CV or personal statement to practising interview techniques and exploring career pathways, this elective gives students the tools to stand out in applications and future opportunities.
Global Issues: Engage with the challenges and opportunities shaping our world today. This elective draws on OUR PLANET MATTERS modules to explore climate change, sustainability, and international cooperation. Students reflect critically on global problems while discussing solutions and innovations with their peers.
Innovation & Technology: Step into the future with a hands-on introduction to cutting-edge developments in Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, and Robotics. Students explore how emerging technologies are transforming education, careers, and society, sparking creativity and curiosity about the possibilities of tomorrow.
Project Work: In these dynamic sessions, students work together in international teams to tackle real-world challenges. From identifying issues and researching solutions to pitching their ideas, the projects encourage creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork. Along the way, students develop valuable skills in discussion, debate, negotiation, marketing, and presentation, while gaining confidence in intercultural communication. These sessions not only strengthen English fluency but also prepare students for future academic and professional success.
Led by qualified teachers drawing on a range of expert perspectives, the course helps students gain confidence in communication while experiencing the academic and cultural buzz of Cambridge.
By the end of the course:

Weekend Excursions
Each two-week course includes four full-day trips – three to London and one to Canterbury:
London Icons Tour
From Buckingham Palace and Big Ben to the South Bank, London Eye, Globe Theatre and Borough Market, students discover the London they’ve always imagined.
London Culture & Creativity
Explore the British Museum, Tate Modern, and National Gallery, then enjoy free time in Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, Chinatown and Covent Garden.
London Youth Experience
A teen-friendly mix of sights and freedom: Camden Market, Regent’s Park, Oxford Street and West End shopping.
Canterbury
Canterbury is one of England’s oldest and most beautiful cities. On the guided walking tour through the cobbled streets and ancient city walls, students will step back in time before exploring the stunning Canterbury Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its medieval architecture and dramatic history. Students will also have ample time to explore and shop before returning to Cambridge for dinner.
